We are more than proud to announce that one of our Ecotours companies, the Blue Elephant Café is the first coffee shop in Hungary to be awarded the globally acknowledged Good Travel Seal sustainability certification. This makes the café the third company in Hungary to successfully complete the rigorous certification process.

Blue Elephant’s commitment to environmental, social and economic sustainability is exemplary in the hospitality industry. The specialty café uses coffees that the growers prefer to grow in smaller quantities but of higher quality, without harming the environment, working in harmony with nature.

Zoltán Jarjabka, the founder of the family-run, quality-oriented café, emphasized:
«Our aim is to bring out the flavour of the coffee beans that are grown, harvested and roasted with special care. We have created a place where our guests can relax, ask our baristas questions and learn more about the world of specialty coffee. Sustainability is a top priority for us, as we want our children to grow up in a liveable, happy world.» He also emphasised that the certification was not easy, but it has brought them a lot of new knowledge and experience, which helped them to become even more conscious about issues related to sustainability.

The café was awarded the Good Travel Seal certification as part of the sustainability certification process promoted and financed under the ECOTOURS programme, in which the selected 96 tourism companies coming from Italy, Spain, France, Greece, Hungary and Cyprus, are guided and supported on their way to becoming more sustainable by the Ecotours consortium.
The Ecotours project gives them the opportunity and financial support to get their sustainability certificates and to conduct an 80 hours of advice and support to develop sustainable practices and circular economy in their own companies, thus contributing to a more sustainable touristic offer of participating regions.
